About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting team and manage the day-to-day financial operations for a portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent task management & organizational skills, a desire to mentor & train staff, a strategic mindset to align with client goals, and in-depth experience in accounting and financial reporting (GAAP).

Requirements

  • Supervise and manage a team of accountants and bookkeepers.

  • Oversee daily accounting operations for portfolio of clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and payroll.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with company policies and GAAP.

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

  • Analyze financial performance, cash flow requirements and provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to clients.

  • Stay updated on financial regulations and best practices.

  • Work closely with external auditors during audits and ensure accurate reporting.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping and payroll, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial role. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial management principles.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (completed or currently enrolled)

  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Google Sheets (including creating pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, nested formulas, etc) and Google Docs. 

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online (QBO): Experience using QBO and other accounting software. 

  • Remote Work Skills: Ability to work independently while checking in often and collaborating effectively via email and chats. 

  • Client Management: Experience in organizing and managing multiple clients and balancing priorities with excellent time management skills. 

  • Effective Problem-Solver: Capable of working and troubleshooting independently to find solutions without being asked. Brings solutions to the table while addressing specific concerns with others.

  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail, including double-checking, and follow-through to ensure accuracy in all aspects of the role.  

  • Excellent Communicator: Exceptional and kind communication skills for client and team interactions.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a team.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT SET YOU APART:

  • Process Improvement: Experience with streamlining workflows and implementing more efficient processes. 

  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets Skills: Experience with advanced functions like INDEX/MATCH, array formulas, and complex data analysis. 

  • Payroll Knowledge: Familiarity with payroll systems and tax regulations, including handling complex payroll issues.
